Y3/4 Tag Rugby Tournament at Bournemouth Collegiate School - 25th January

Match Reports

On Wednesday, Year 3 and some pupils from Year 4 took part in a tag rugby tournament at Bournemouth Collegiate School. In their first match of the day, the team played against Hampshire Collegiate School. There were some positive signs with some fantastic penetrating attacking play from Max, with some support from Sam. The team could have defended better and found themselves 4 tries down before half time. The second half saw Max scoring his second try of the game, with the final score ending at 8-2 to HCS.  Man of the Match: Max.

The second game against Park School featured some improvement with a better passing game being orchestrated by the younger members of the team. Both Edward and Ollie put in stellar performances and scored two magnificent tries, the highlight being a wonderful twisting run by Ollie in the first half. There was another notable performance from Max and a great second half performance from Edward. The final score ended 10-2 to Park School, with both Edward and Ollie picking up man of the match awards.

In their third match of the day, the younger members of the Moyles Court team upped their game and showed off some excellent attacking flair, particularly with some fine passing and decisive runs into the final third. Jessica was especially outstanding against Ballard and capped off a superb performance with a try. Edward saw two tries disallowed either side of half time in contentious decisions, but gave a brilliant performance with his penetrating runs and good support play. The score ended 8-1 to Ballard. Player of the Match: Jessica.

In their final match, Moyles Court fought hard against FSM and were unlucky to see two excellent tries by Farah and Calum ruled out in dubious circumstances. This spurred the team on, and after a disappointing first half; the team performed really well in the second half with three tries in quick succession. Max grounded the ball twice, whilst Anais from Year 3 picked up another try after excellent approach play and vision to spot a gap in the far corner. The final score ended 7-3 to FSM, with Anais and Max picking up the Player of the Match awards, although the team will count themselves unfortunate not to have gained something from this final game.
