Y2/3/4 Tag Rugby Match vs Forres Sandle Manor - 14th March

Match Report

On Wednesday, a mixture of Year 2, 3 and 4 pupils played in a tag rugby match versus FSM. The matches were organised in a triangular fashion, with Moyles Court fielding two teams, both of which played FSM. Moyles Court also played a final match where both of their teams faced off against each other.

In the first game, it was clear that both teams were well organised and were evenly matched, which led to very few chances for both teams. Max was the difference in the first half, scoring two tries and showing some excellent pace to get behind their back line.
Moyles Court found themselves 3-2 down at the break after some slack defending and needed the half time team talk to find some motivation needed to win the match. The team came out much stronger in the second half, with Ollie displaying some first rate defensive play. Max captained his team and led by example, commanding his team to a 7-4 victory and scoring all seven tries.

The second team to face
FSM were also well organised but lacked some of the pace and guile to break down FSM's defence, which led to FSM being the better team in the first half. Edward and Edward C were the main driving forces and were at the heart of most of Moyles Court's good play. Despite finding themselves again down at the break, this time 5-1, Moyles Court came out fighting in the second half and finished the stronger team. The final score finished at 7-4 to FSM, although FSM were visibly impressed at the fightback from Moyles Court, who deserved to get something from the game.

The final team featured both
Moyles Court teams against each other, where the teams were vying for pride and honour. Jessica gave an outstanding passing and moving display for Moyles Court team A, whilst Anais more than matched her in Team B. The game seemed to be leading to a victory for team A, but Team B scored a try in the very last seconds of the game, to earn a 6-All draw, and a very deserved draw for team B, who had earlier fought back from 5-2 down.

Under 9/10 Netball Match vs Leehurst Swan - 14th March

Match Report

All available younger girls including Kayla from Year 2 played in this match on Wednesday.

The first match was High 5 and as all players rotate positions not many goals were scored.

The final score was 1 – 0 to the opposition.

The second match was full 7-a side. Leehurst Swan proved to have better shooting skills, although the on court play was good from both teams.  Moyles Court played with determination and speed, and although the score was 2 – 0 to Leehurst Swan, we played some good netball.

Players of the match: Maddison and Maria who gave maximum effort and chased and defended well.

Under 13/14 Netball v Forres Sandle Manor

Match Report

We took two teams of netballers to FSM today, consisting of Year 8 & 9 girls.  Our resources were stretched to the limit as we had every girl at Moyles Court School involved in matches this afternoon. Unfortunately Hannah was ill during the morning which left our first team a player short.  Luckily FSM very kindly agreed to lend us a player so we could field a complete team.

In the first game we were quickly three goals down as FSM attacked swiftly and capitalised on some mistakes on our part.  However, we were quick to make amends, with Prudence bossing midfield, directing her team mates with determination and a positive attitude.  Rebecca and Immi combined well to shoot some brilliant long range shots.  We finished the first half 10-6 in the lead.  We made a couple of adjustments in
defence, taking off our two leading players Emily and Jasmine as I wanted to make it a competitive game.  This almost backfired as they rushed to score four quick goals in the third quarter.  We thankfully held on with some beautiful links between Prudence and Charlotte, passing quickly to our shooters and we finished the game victorious
16-11

Unfortunately the second match was a different story.  In spite of some spirited play from Sarah as man of the match the team were losing 15-1 in the first half.  With heads drooping, I asked for greater positive play and Natasha and Courtney took heed and managed to score three fantastic goals to pull the score back to 17-4.  Lucy switched games and played with a great attitude.  Gabby gained some vital experience, defending with greater accuracy and fewer mistakes in the second half. Lauren managed to stay positive and finished the game with a smile on her face!

The matches were played in great spirit and both sides showed mutual respect.  It was a pleasure to take the girls to this match and I look forward to our next game. Well done!

Under 10 Netball Match v Sopley Primary School - 7th March

Match report

This match was our first fixture against Sopley Primary and the rain held off luckily in time for the match start.

The first quarter was even at 2 all, then we began to pull ahead by 3 goals at half-time.

Both teams had a weak 3rd quarter with only 1 goal scored. Unfortunately Moyles Court let Sopley creep ahead in the last few minutes and eventually lost 7 – 11.

Moyles fielded a Year 5 team consisting of 1 Year 6, 4 Year 5’s and 2 Year 4 girls, whereas Sopley played mostly Year 6’s. Considering this Sopley advantage, the result was a good one for Moyles and all girls played well.

Initially we certainly played better but the oppositions considerable height advantage proved of benefit in the end.  A friendly fixture enjoyed by all.

Under 13/14 Football v BCS - 8th February

Match Report

In our return fixture v BCS we faced a strong BCS team in harsh conditions.  With the temperatures dipping below -2c and a biting wind, our brave girls took the pitch with apprehension.  The match had almost been called off but I knew our girls were up for the challenge.  In fact, it was so cold that the pitch marking machine froze!!  With many of our players enjoying the company of Mickey and Minnie, our team was somewhat green.

Prudence and Immie were determined from the outset, barking instructions and playing in every position on the field.  Many of our players did not get out of gear until late in the first half, when we found ourselves 3 goals down.

Hannah, Lucy and Immie were brilliant in defence in the second half, advancing on the attackers rather than retreating.  Jasmine grew in confidence and she demonstrated some brave tackles.  Olivia was excellent in midfield, covering the field and marking several players.  Alicia, despite showing nerves, got into the game in the second half and gained some valuable experience.  Natasha was extremely unlucky not to score in the last few minutes, blasting her shot inches wide.  We had a corner in the dying seconds of the game, so we threw everyone into the box but didn't manage to get a shot on target.  Thankfully the ref blew for full time as BCS were advancing up the field.  Final Score 5-0.

The girls played with sportsmanship and good spirit and we enjoyed a lovely warm pain au chocolat after the match.  Well done girls for braving the Baltic!
